Here are some Siberian Husky facts for you.  Siberian Huskies are strong and flexible sled dogs.  Don’t let their appearance deceive you because they are also gentle and playful just like most dogs.  This is a high energy dog so expect them to be always on the move especially when they are still young.  They cant be used as watchdogs because they don’t bark too much.  They are also friendly with everyone including strangers and little children.

They are very obedient and can be trained.  However, they will only obey the trainer if they think the person has a stronger personality than them.  If you don’t think that is the case then you should not bother training these dogs because they wont respond to your commands.  The Husky can also get bored easily so you must not let it be by itself for a long time.  It can be in a bad mood if you don’t let it exercise for a long time.

They can be good companions with other pets that were raised with them since they were puppies.  They can make wonderful companions to people who are willing to spend some time and energy with them.  Remember, training this breed requires a lot of patience and hard work.

The common colors of Siberian Huskies are red and black and white and black.  This breed likes to roam because they don’t like staying in one place for a very long time. 


The weight of females is around 35-50 pounds while the males are 45-60 pounds.  The height of females is 20-22 inches while males are 21-23.5 inches.

Coat Care

Because of their heavy coats, these dogs prefer cold climates.  If they are placed in a hot area then you must turn on the air condition. 

Family Life

Siberian Huskies get along with children and the rest of the family very well.  Of course, they require your full attention because they can become unpredictable if you decide to ignore them.


With proper training, Siberian Huskies will adapt to the lifestyle of their owners.  Of course, they are born sled dogs so they are not ideal to be put in an apartment.  You may have to wait for them to get used to that.  They can live in apartments if they are trained and get proper exercise all the time.


The life expectancy is about 12-15 years.  They are prone to hip dysplasia, eye problems, corneal dystrophy and crystalline corneal opacities.  This is why it is advisable to have their hips and eyes checked at least once a year with a veterinarian. 


These dogs need to exercise often so a daily walk or jog is needed.  However, they should not exercise too much in warm weather.  They need to exercise because they want to stay healthy just like humans.


Siberian Huskies are easy to train but they will only listen to the trainer if they think the trainer deserves to be listened to.  These dogs would act up if they think they are better than the person training them.
